Recital filming tips and tricks
Recording tips and tricks
Use a device with a camera and microphone.
Using a smartphone, tablet or laptop is recommended.
Place your device in the landscape or horizontal position for the best quality video.
Your camera should be in a phone dock, tripod, chair, music stand, or propped up on a table with a book.
Prepare your stage
We recommend a blank wall in a tidy room as your backdrop.
This is a special occasion. Wear your ANMS or Emerging Artists shirt, or get dressed up for the performance.

Position the camera in a spot where you will be the main focus, we want to see your face!
Lighting is key!
The main source of light should be directed toward you.
We recommend performing in a well-lit room, using a lamp or location where natural light from a window is directed toward you.
Make sure you are not backlit, this will make it difficult to see you in the final video.
Find a quiet and private place in your home where you will not be interrupted.
