Recital Filming Guidelines
Recording tips and tricks:
Use a device with a camera and microphone.
Using a smartphone, tablet or laptop is recommended.
The rear camera of smartphones will have the best quality.
Place your device in the landscape/horizontal position for the best quality video.
Your camera should be in on a dock, tripod, chair, music stand, or propped on a table with a book for the perfect angle.
Prepare your Stage:
Find a quiet and private place in your home where you will not be interrupted.
Please use a blank wall in a tidy room as your backdrop.
This is a special occasion. Wear your ANMS or Emerging Artists shirt, or get dressed up for the performance.

Position the camera in a spot where you will be the main focus, we want to see your face!
The main source of light should be directed toward you.
We recommend performing in a well-lit room, using a lamp or location where natural light from a window is directed toward you.
Make sure you are not backlit, this will make it difficult to see you in the final video.
How to Introduce your piece:
Before you begin playing your piece or song, please introduce yourself and your piece:
“My name is Sarah and today I will be performing the piece Die Lotosblume by Robert Schumann”
“Hello, my name is Greg and for today’s SHOWCASE I am playing Bourée composed by Handel”
After you complete your performance you may bow to the camera. Out editing team will help make sure you look and sound fantastic!
